What’s the name of your biz and what do you do?
Makeup & Hairstyling by Karissa Lorinne. I am a freelance makeup artist and hairstylist who goes on location to service my clients. I specialize in weddings and makeup for print work.
Tell us a little bit about yourself! Fav cocktail? Tea or coffee? Hobbies?
I am both an introvert and extrovert, so I get my energy from being isolated and being social; it just depends on my mood. I love animals! I have a dog and a cat, and I’m currently fostering a second dog so I have three spoiled pets right now. It’s really hard for me to choose a favorite cocktail. I bartended for 10 years, so I’ve always liked experimenting and trying new drinks. If I had to choose one, I’d say my current favorite is a classic margarita. I like both coffee and tea, but I drink coffee more. Even though I’m on an iced coffee kick right now, a warm cup of coffee will always feel like home to me. My current hobbies include macrame and video games. I’ve been a gamer since age 5. I grew up playing Super Nintendo, N64, and PlayStation. I still have a Super Nintendo and N64. My current gamer obsession is Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4. I’m also a major Disney fanatic. Nerd alert! I am a total dork, and that’s probably my favorite thing about myself.
Why did you want branding photos done?
I had Camryn shoot my branding photos because I wanted some professional photos of myself that connected with my audience. I already have headshots from multiple photographers, as well as endless professional images of me working. So having professional lifestyle-type photos of me that are more carefree and show my personality sounded like such a great idea. And it was! I’m so happy with my branding photos.
Did you feel awkward or awesome during our session together? How was it working with me?
At first I was a little nervous because I can be awkward at times, and having photos taken has felt awkward in the past. But Camryn made me feel super comfortable and confident! We had a glass of wine while choosing what props I wanted to use and where we were going to shoot. It was seriously so much fun! Overall a really great experience from start to finish.
Where are you using your branding photos now?
I use them as my profile pictures on my professional social medias, in the “About Me” section on my website, in my signature on my emails, and I also post them on my social medias with some fun facts about myself from time to time. They get the most engagement of any of my posts!
How did these photos help elevate your business?
They’ve really helped me connect with my audience. I’ve actually received more inquiries and bookings, and like I said above they get the most engagement out of any of my other social media posts. I think people feel more comfortable booking with me because I have professional pictures that show my personality. Having headshots and pictures of me working are great too, but I think those can feel a bit stiff sometimes. Headshots are just very generic in my opinion, and most of the photos of me working show my “game face” because I’m in the zone working. They’re always at the end of my work day and I’m exhausted from starting my day at 4am. I love that my branding photos have a very carefree vibe while still looking very professional, and I don’t look exhausted.
Anything else you would like to add?
I cannot express enough how great my experience was working with Camryn. I love my branding photos so much! Not only is she a great photographer, she is very personable and truly cares about each one of her clients and making them look and feel their best in their photos. I had never even thought about having these types of photos done, but it’s honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business because they set me apart from the rest who only have headshots and working photos. I plan to do them every couple years to stay current with my audience and connect with them as my personal and professional styles change.
